Biosecurity Man
Watercolor and Ink on Paper - 16" x 11" - Copyright 2006

Details

This was part of a job I did for an institutional client, but it could as easily be - as the detail suggests - a whacky portrait. And doesn't everyone secretly want to look whacky? For this kind of illustration, the artwork comes in 2 parts - a watercolor part on paper, and an ink part on transparent acetate - that could be registered for framing (I think).

There's quite a lot of detail here that all had to be designed (including that funky logo!), but a less complicated "single figure with simple background" design could be done in about 3 days. The finished design here is about a week's work.
