It is from these simple sketchbook drawings, rough and imperfect, that larger paintings evolved;
you might say that I first "met" these painting in these drawings and for that reason I am somewhat attached to them.

I also wish to include this much older drawing from 1984; it is based upon a pre-existing photograph
(of model Marianne Gravatte) and does not properly belong with the creative work I began in the 90's,
but it is a fairly nice rendering, nervertheless.
